Our Doctor 

Lori A. Harkins, M.D. is a native Nebraskan.  She was born in Omaha and raised in Ogallala.  She graduated summa cum laude in the Honors program from Arizona State University where she was a member of the scholastic honorary, Phi Beta Kappa.  She received her medical degree from the University of Texas Medical School at Houston.  She was elected to A.O.A., the medical honor society, and was named Most Outstanding Woman Graduate.

Dr. Harkins completed a transitional internship at St Joseph Hospital in Houston, TX.  She completed her residency in ophthalmology at Louisiana State University in New Orleans.  She is board certified in ophthalmology.  Dr. Harkins practiced medicine in Texas before returning to Nebraska to establish her practice in Grand Island.

Dr. Harkins is a member of the American Medical Association and the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery.  She is a fellow of the American Academy of Ophthalmology.  She is a past president of the medical staff at St. Francis Medical Center and a past officer in the Nebraska Academy of Eye Physicians and Surgeons.  Dr. Harkins was selected as Physician of the year for her volunteer work for the Third City Clinic.
